OverviewA Whippoorwill's Journal: The Journey of Our Horse Rescue One woman tells her story of the heartache, joy, pain and fulfillment of saving the horses that nobody wanted. Cathy Padgett is an unassuming woman at first glance, but it doesn't take long to realize that she is really a superhero. She does what few have the desire, background or courage to do: she takes in injured, abused, ill and often left for dead horses and gives them new life and hope. Tucked into the mountains of East Tennessee is Whippoorwill Horse Rescue. This is where Cathy, her family and friends fight to save the lives of the horses that no one wants. Sometimes starved or injured, and always neglected, most of these horses were destined for the slaughterhouse if not for Whippoorwill Horse Rescue and the selfless people who give their time, money and hearts to it. But there is joy at the end of the journey-through hard work and medical care, mostly paid for by generous donations, Cathy and her crew transform the sad, broken horses into the magnificent animals they were meant to be. The end result is that they are adopted into loving and capable homes where they are loved and cherished by their new families. Created from Cathy's blogs over several years, A Whippoorwill's Journal is packed with photos, stories about the horses and their struggle to recover and delightful tales about the animals' exploits. A Whippoorwill's Journal is now on sale in paperback and Kindle editions with plans for a hardback coffee table book in the future. Free in spirit and strong in will I know my parents had their hands full with my brother Glen and me. I never met an animal I didn't fall for but, the bigger part of my heart belonged to the horse. I surround myself with friends who have something good to bring to the table and a great number of my friends have fur. My human friends are the kind that understand my thinking, are accepting of constant attire of barn clothes and if they drag me out into the public; they understand I will be covered in some form of critter hair. I'm a proud mother of two beautiful children, Daughter Shelby and Son Tristian, who completed my life and a true gift from God. Rarely do I meet a stranger and I love to share a good story. I grew up sitting at the knee's of my Grandpa's; Edward Allen and Burl Padgett. These two wonderful men held my attention for hours as they spoke in great detail of their lives and adventures. Their stories and the art of bringing them to life are still such an inspiration to me. I plan to always be a part of the rescue world for those who have no voice which includes but not limited to the horse. The only part of my life spent without a horse at my side was the part of my life I was spent wishing for one to share my world. I live a modest and simple life and all my dreams I share within this book are those I hope to see to reality. My wish is to make a better life for my family and watch Whippoorwill Horse Rescue flourish in order to never have to turn a life in need away for lack of funding. I pray you are inspired and enjoy our travels as you read about our days through A Whippoorwill's Journal. There is a rescue in us all. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
