OverviewThis book is designed as an aid for students who have joined one of the appraisal societies (ASA, AAA, RICS), have already taken their four mandatory classes, and who have already passed the federal USPAP test. If you have not done this, do so before you buy this book. I cannot stress too strongly the need for you to be an accredited member of at least one of these societies. This is the only way to achieve proper credentials. There is no licensing mechanism for personal property appraisers in the United States. Credentials are crucial because most of your affluent clients have their own designation, e.g. PhD, MD, JD, CPA, etc. They invariably will seek qualified appraisers with designations. Courts will recognize designations and opposing counsels will eat you alive if you appear before them without accreditations.
