OverviewThis study aims to investigate how career choice, training, personality, and both positive and negative factors contribute to success in the teaching profession. To this end, it examines participants' expectations of the teaching profession both before and during their training. The expectations are then compared with subsequent experiences in the reality of the profession. Furthermore, the study examines which personal traits and characteristics, as well as which external factors, make it easier or more difficult for an individual to pursue a career in teaching. The central aim of this thesis is to help support young people in their decision for or against a career in teaching. An attempt is made to paint as realistic a picture as possible of the teaching profession, one that does justice to the complexity of the role.
