Dr. SHYLAJA VIJAYKUMAR is deeply concerned with gender issues; especially issues pertaining to the dichotomous conditions of the middle class women. Her intimacy with the various feminist ideologies and inwardness with her own culture provides a rich alluvial. Her everyday experiences have transcended into universal experiences in her collection of poems A TAPESTRY. She is an avid researcher with M. Phil and P.hd in Women's studies. She has also contributed to the electronic medium as a script writer for a Kannada TV serial. She served as a Joint director for the Dept. of Higher Education and has retired recently. She is at present exploring new avenues to express her thoughts.
