OverviewLouisiana, 1945. Betty Boudreaux has spent her whole life pushing back against the conventions of society. Betty, ambitious and hyper-independent, has done the impossible and made it as one of the top journalists for The New Orleans Post. But her propensity for trouble leaves her boss at his wits end. He has no other choice but to hire an assistant to keep her on a short leash. Frank Martin is desperate for a reprieve from his troubled home life. This is the first real job he's had since returning from the war. He's a man that always plays by the rules, but taking the job as Betty's assistant means he's going to have to test his boundaries and reexamine what it means to be a good man. After getting a lead on a new story Betty and Frank soon find themselves immersed in the rich Cajun culture of Acadiana. The pair travels to the rural village of Ville Morte, where a series of brutal murders have occurred. Three teens have been found butchered on Lover's Lane and a fourth is still missing. But history refuses to stay buried. They must sort through not only their own personal traumas of the past, but also the sins of Ville Morte itself, in order to confront the present and catch a madman.
