OverviewThis book examines Northwest Semitic syntax, which has been explored at great length on word, phrasal, and clausal levels. From the tenth to the fifth centuries BC, and including writings from the Phoenician, Moabite, and Hebrew languages, the inscriptional material examined in this work is analyzed based on a text level approach, and how clauses and sentences work together to form larger syntactic units is demonstrated. The syntax and literary structure of the inscriptions complement each other, as the syntax is the vehicle that conveys the literary devices within the inscriptions.
