What if we could all go back to Little House on the Prairie Days? As you open this book, you will go on a voyage with me to Grandma's home. I pray as you visit there with me that you will experience the warmth of my Walnut Grove. My Walnut Grove wasn't a place in Minnesota on the Banks of Plum Creek. My simple life was on a farm in North Carolina. It is where I learned common courtesy and that we should love people no matter what. It is where I was happy every year to run and get my birthday dollar from my Grandpa while he sat on the front porch. Many times I would sneak over to Grandma's to breathe in the simplicity and the night air. Oh if times would never change and we could remain in Little House Days? There was a time when values were a lot more important than they are today. Families loved one another no matter what. Marriage wasn't something that couples walked away from because they were having disagreements but they loved one another in spite of their flaws, and nothing they could ever say or do could change that. And Little House Days? Children cared about what their parents had to say and wanted to obey them. They wanted to respect their parents even if they didn't like their answer. They wouldn't dare want to talk back to them because they knew that if they did Daddy was going to get the belt or Mama would pop them in the mouth. Disrespect just wasn't tolerated. These were times when life wasn't so fast-paced, and families talked to one another at supper. It is a time that children growing up now will never know. Cell phones were not invented, and you always said yes mam or no sir when talking to an adult. I know it seems silly to be homesick from those days but those were times of great blessing. You didn't need much to be happy. If you are thinking of picking up this book so you can travel back to simpler times then get ready! You will learn about my Ma and Pa.
