OverviewIdeally, the process of growing up, becoming increasingly aware of self, others and surroundings, should be automatic but there are instances, on account of trauma or stress, when some people become stuck. They live in a context that stifles their growth and development, making them unable to fully realize themselves, stifling the song in them. They are not well equipped to comprehend the world, so they operate on its fringes, making do with all manner of substitutes. This is symptomatic of a malfunctioning society which even at the high noon of its progress and splendour, will always leave at least some people on its margins. Kulova, a herdsman, and Kundu, a wanderlust, work together in the home of a wealthy landowner. The fortunes of the workers and that of the family are a long distance apart but they live in a web of mutuality. Cynthia, the eldest in the family, is an aspiring musician. She is keen to make them maintain strict hygiene, a demand that the two workers are not particularly keen to keep. The ensuing conflict is sometimes funny but carries with it profound overtones. Eventually the two stand on the threshold off manhood. This too is not easy. Increasingly, alot more is going to be demanded of them. The future is uncertain, holding in its palms promise, mystery and awesome challenge.
