Overview

Philemon had difficult decisions to make. His runaway slave had returned, and a famous apostle had sent a message to his local church. How would he respond? The apostle Paul wrote a personal letter to Philemon who lived in the city of Colossae and another letter to the Colossian church. These letters are included in the Bible. The letter to Philemon was an appeal on behalf of the runaway slave who had become a Christian. The letter to the church challenged the people in various areas including who Jesus is, opposition to legalism, Christian ethics, household relationships, and thanksgiving.
