OverviewThis is the story of a branch of the Morris Family who have lived in West Somerset for well over 200 years. It starts in 1817 with William Morris and continues until 2024. From around 1854 some of this branch lived, and still lives, on farms on the outskirts of the village of Bishops Lydeard. They began as tenants of the huge Sandhill Estate but when that was sold in 1913 three members of the family bought the farms they had been tenanting. I have a lot more information and stories on the Morris's than it was possible to put in this booklet and I also know that there is a lot more information left to find. So please feel free to contact me. It has been an immense pleasure to put this together and I want to thank all the currently living family members for their help, co-operation and support in doing so. Especially Frances Morris/Arbuthnot without whom this booklet would simply not exist. Also gracious thanks to Amanda McMahon who, with great good humour, edited and put the final booklet together.
