Overview

Want to know the answers to life, the universe, and everything? Then you're in for a disappointment... But you can understand some of its mysteries! Read on... 13.8 billion years ago, a massive explosion happened... That explosion was the Big Bang, and it kickstarted a fireworks display of epic proportions - one so great we're still trying to make sense of it today. Perhaps you know all about the Big Bang... but how much do you really know about what happened next? How much do you know about the universe it created? Scientists will spend their lifetimes trying to figure out its mysteries, and we'll never know the answers to life, the universe, and everything (unless we fall back on The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy's answer and settle on 42). For most people, the universe is endlessly fascinating... But the great tomes exploring it and the endless mathematical equations dedicated to figuring it out are not. Luckily for you, there's a shortcut - one that's much more fun and engaging than reading endless academic papers that leave you feeling more confused than you were when you started out. The universe should be fun, and you're about to discover a book that understands that, weaving humor and wit into every paragraph so that you not only understand what you're reading... but enjoy the whole process. Inside this comprehensive yet fun guide to the universe, you'll discover: Why space and time rely on light to keep their relationship on track - and what the heck that has to do with the speed of light A closer look at Uncle Albert and his crazy experiments (that's Einstein to you!) What Shrӧdinger's cat has to do with quantum mechanics - in language you actually understand Why particle physics is like a detective story... and how this will help you to understand the universe The mad scientist who rocked the scientific world in the 17th century and changed our understanding of the universe A dive into the terrifying world of black holes that won't leave you with an existential crisis The party planner of the universe that unites every branch of physics How to time travel (well, in theory... If it's possible... Want to find out?) Everything you didn't know you wanted to know about stars and constellations The beginner's guide to Multiverse Theory (hang onto your hat!) The endless mystery of dark matter... and why it matters Your guide to the Coffee Bean Experiment - and what it has to do with our solar system A deeper look at every planet you know about because My Very Excellent Mother Just Served Us Noodles Asteroids, planets, and spacecrafts (oh my!)... plus aliens - what's the verdict? And much more. If you've always wanted to know about the universe but have been put off by the math, science, and academic language, it's time to take a more fun approach. The universe is a weird and wonderful place, and to understand it, we need to take a very human look at it - one laced with humor, analogies, and simple language.

Reviews

"""The author is passionate (times a googolplex) about all things science, space, planets, and black holes and writes in such a way that even a science novice like me gets taken up in all the excitement and awe of it all. The content is full of buzz, facts, and a whole lot more than the reader probably came in expecting. It's written in such a way that is so engaging it made me think the author must have superhuman or at least cross-topic gifts in literacy and science streams, which was surprising and just plain refreshing."" ""It is a captivating book that beautifully blends knowledge and humor to unravel the mysteries of our cosmos. It's like having an animated scientist as your guide, breaking down complex topics into bite-sized pieces. Each chapter is an adventure into the unknown, with titles that made me both curious and chuckle."" ""What I loved most about this book was how it managed to make complex scientific concepts accessible and entertaining for readers of all ages. Despite the subject matter, I finished the book feeling more enlightened. If you're looking for a fun and engaging book that will also expand your knowledge of the universe, this is definitely the book for you!"" ""If you love science, space, and quantum physics like I do, then grab this up. This audiobook is also a great way to get your kids interested in science. There are no boring flat lectures here. The narration is lively and engaging. The most complex scientific understandings are put in a way that allows just about anyone to wrap their heads around what is going on -- well, as much as possible anyway, because as the book mentions, even the most highly respected of quantum physicists don't fully understand everything involved."""
