OverviewMy experiences of going through separation and divorce, in a patriarchal African country, was intimidating, oppressive and ruthless, pushing me into depression. Having already been a victim to a traumatic separation, I was thrown onto an emotional rollercoaster which rendered me powerless bringing with it, confusion and unpreparedness on how to deal with the vague, complex sometimes corrupt and very expensive legalities, leave alone the quagmire of practicalities involved in separation and divorce. This is a familiar story to women on this journey in Africa, with a large percentage of them giving up on bringing emotional and legal closure to their cases. Many times, I wanted to give up completing this process, but I soldiered on to the end. I thank God. Written tailored specifically for women in Africa, going through separation and divorce, my prayers are that this book will encourage and prepare them to: know what to expect; make sense of and manage emotions, prepare for the legal process and practicalities, enable healing and recovery from their pain, and soldiering on to the end. Not only will the book help prepare them to live through this season, but to come out the other end thriving, with hope for a full life after divorce.
