OverviewThis book is about a different understanding to some extent of Christianity as it is defined, understood, and practiced today by many. Different but not new for its roots originate in such things as Christian mysticism, Christian contemplative spirituality and early church practices. I call this different understanding Christian but Unaffiliated, although to be honest it really doesn't matter what it's called. As one reads on it will become clear why I choose and use this phrase. But essentially, it's to differentiate this understanding from what so many think Christianity is and has to be. Christian but Unaffiliated comes out of many years of struggling to redefine my understanding of Christianity as it had been taught to me through church, seminary etc. I came to faith over forty-five years ago but along the line I found myself becoming more and more disillusioned with my faith, not a good thing for a pastor. Christianity just didn't seem to be what I thought it was anymore. I wondered if I was losing my faith, but after years of confusion I found this wasn't actually the case at all. My problem wasn't with Christianity but my understanding thereof. Thus, the quest of reconfiguring my faith began, resulting in Christian but Unaffiliated.
