Reviews

'With this book, Carsten has provided a clear, practical pathway to identifying and solving these important problems in the supply chain. From an investment perspective, taking the steps outlined contributes to effective risk management, improved resilience, and ultimately continuity. Anyone serious about securing their supply chain should heed the advice given in this book.' - Timothy King CFA, CIO, Melior Investment Management 'In this important work, Carsten Primdal shares the lessons learnt over many years of personal experience, making this book compelling reading for any company that is serious about investigating the possibility of forced labour within their supply chains and provides guidance on the most appropriate remedial action. We are presented with an excellent overview of this complex domain and provided with practical guidelines and templates to aid with internal compliance and with meeting external legislative obligations.' - Dr David Cooke, Konica Minolta Business Solutions Australia 'This book is an excellent, easy-to-read guide with practical steps on how to take action when you suspect unsatisfactory activities in the supply chain. Based on his personal experience, Carsten identifies the early warning signs and what to look for when embarking on the essential journey towards ethical sourcing and a sustainable supply chain. In his book, Carsten breaks complex and difficult risk-management processes into simple and operational steps, supported by useful questionnaires and checklists to support you on the way.' - Irene Sobotta, Research, Development and Adoption Program Manager Integrity Systems Company 'Modern slavery has become the primary ESG issue of our times - driven by NGO, media, intergovernmental and investor focus and action, and more recently regulation across multiple jurisdictions. However, managing these risks effectively is far from a simple exercise. Carsten presents an accessible and practical guide to identifying, managing and remedying labour risks in a supply chain, based on direct hands-on experience from the procurement team right back to the factory level in source countries.' - Matt Willson, Associate Director, Sustainability, Westpac Institutional Bank 'Companies affect human rights (including the challenge of modern slavery) every day in their interactions with employees, suppliers, consumers, partners and communities. Carsten's insightful and practical approach in this book addresses a company's responsibility to respect human rights both within its own operations, including joint ventures and other forms of partnerships, and in its business relationships with public and private entities in its value chain, including suppliers, labour contractors, distributors and business customers.' - Andrew Petersen, CEO, Business Council for Sustainable Development Australia
