Overview

Dream. Fight. Own. One Woman's Battle for a Home and a Future. Sagashus Levingston didn't just dream of homeownership--she fought for it. No credit. Six kids. A system designed to lock her out. Yet, in just nine months, she went from realizing she had nowhere stable to turn to signing the deed to her first home. A Pot to Piss In is more than a memoir--it's a masterclass in resilience, defiance, and rewriting the rules. From the streets of Cairo, Illinois--where her great-grandmother ran a brothel--to the boardrooms and classrooms where she made her mark as a PhD-holding entrepreneur, Levingston lays it all bare. Poverty, power, pain, and perseverance--this is the story of a woman who refused to shrink. For the woman who's been told she's asking for too much. For the mother juggling dreams and diapers. For the entrepreneur building something from nothing. For the professional tired of proving she belongs. For every woman who knows she was meant for more--this book is for you.

Author Information

Dr. Sagashus Levingston is an inspiring author, entrepreneur, and advocate known for her work addressing race, gender, poverty, and resilience. She grew up on the south side of Chicago, and as a single mother of six, she has defied societal expectations to achieve personal and professional success. After earning her PhD in English Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she focused on the stories of Black women who have been judged, dismissed, and underestimated, yet rise to play vital roles in society, Dr. Levingston founded Infamous Mothers. As CEO, she offers transformative content, coaching, and workshops that remind and motivate women in the Infamous Mothers universe (IMverse) to own, harness, and wield their stories to shape their futures. Equally important, she builds physical, virtual, and symbolic communities for them. Her mission is to help transform the lives of 2 million women by 2027. Her memoir, A Pot to Piss In, blends her personal journey with sharp social commentary, addressing issues like systemic racism, sexism, and class struggles. Through her work, she challenges biases and inspires women to step into their power. Dr. Levingston lives in Madison, WI, with her family, where she continues to inspire through her work and struggles with her chocolate addiction.
