Overview

Looking back at life in a City of South Asian culture, renowned all over the world, as a culmination of days spent since childhood, listening to poets and poetry in north Indian languages, this is a final presentation, A Portrait of the Artist (as a young man). These poems, first written down in Hindustani, then typed in the English alphabet, with accent marks as used in European languages (with a glossary), help clarify pronunciation, and are translated fully into English idiom. They are standalone poems in English that capture the delicacy of culture, for which Lucknow is known. They also capture the cultural idiom typical of Hindustani poetry and cultural expression. All translations have been done by the author (poet) himself.
