Overview

This is an excellent first hand account of a polish-Jewish boy during Hitler's tyranny against the world. The life of a child during war-time and how destructive it can be, physically, emotionally and how those tortures are manifested through body, mind and soul. But also how it can affect a religious life, beliefs and during different ages. He also suffers and survives a cruel and cowardly father. This book should be required reading at all schools as it addresses many of life's aspects. I make these comments because the author and I suffered fathers of similar styles and temper. I am not Jewish but I've questioned my fundamental faith, I've read many holocaust books but never by someone who endured it at such a young age. __________________ This book is so worthwhile read and is a fast read. It can be read within an hour two as it is only about ninety pages. It is based on a true story of a Polish, Jewish boy, who escaped the Nazi occupation of Poland. He lost both his parents in very tragic circumstances. He spent his childhood years escaping from the Nazis and eventually landing up in the US where he was adopted by his mother's sister and her husband. The book describes the terrible hardships and experiences that this boy had. This book is a sad read but holds one's interest until the end. ________________ Thank you Chiel for your heartfelt story! The book is told in the unique first person point of view of a (very) young boy. Having young kids myself it's truly amazing that Phil was able to survive this terrible part of history. B F Jochnowitz, born and educated in Boston, Massachusetts, has always been passionate about writing. She and her husband owned and operated a publishing firm in Marblehead, Massachusetts-specializing in editing and typesetting college textbooks. After moving to Florida, she wrote this first book-a tribute to the life of her husband.
