OverviewThere comes a time in every career when a change is required. Making this change can be challenging and confusing. This book is for people who are grappling with the challenges of staying employed, staying relevant, avoiding burnout, and finding fulfilment in their jobs. In it I ask you to consider what your work would look like if there were no limits, no doubts, no distractions. What makes you feel like you're doing what you were meant to do? What does your ideal workday feel like? Imagine the sky at its bluest. We call this process of dreaming 'Career Imagination'. It starts with believing that your dream can come true, no matter who you are, because wonderful careers are for ordinary people, it's true every day. The world of work is changing fast. This book provides you with the background knowledge you'll need to figure out where you should go and how you can get there. It examines the forces affecting your job, and shows you how to steer your career in a way that brings more satisfaction and stability. In my journey to learn more about what people want from work and how this might change over a lifetime, I spoke to more than a hundred people with a wide variety of experiences, and I learned what leads to career success for the ordinary person with an ordinary education - and usually some big dreams. I talked to people like you. People who need achievable strategies to get where they want to be, not fantastic advice that feels out of reach. This book is the result. Good luck and best wishes for the job of your dreams. May you meet the right people along the way and enjoy the journey.
