Reviews

""A most comprehensive and engaging documentary about life, landscapes, and domesticity in an old and still vivacious Newfoundland community ... a refreshingly civilized approach to social study."" Newfoundland Studies ""A Place to Belong has a little of every in it; history, sociology, architecture, horticulture, folklore, even polemic. In the end - and this is always a sign of a good book - Pocius makes us wonder about the quality of our own lives."" Paul Wilson, The Globe and Mail ""Deserves to attain classic status ... It is the only book I have ever read that might be more clear, more real, more illuminating an experience of a place than actually going there would be."" David MacFarlane, Books in Canada
