Overview

It has been two years since the last murder in the small Wisconsin village. Nate Janowsky, the officer who solved the case, has been promoted. He and Star Calloway, the newspaper editor who teamed with him to bring several killers to justice, have a nearly two-year-old daughter and a home together in the village's historic district. Life is good. But as Christmas approaches, an ice fisherman is poisoned. Then Santa drops dead. Unwelcome suspects from previous cases just happen to show up in town. And a threatening coded message arrives from a phantom author. Suddenly, the season seems anything but jolly, and the phantom writer promises tragedy at 8:00 on the evening of the town's winter festival. But who will be targeted? Where? And why? The clock is ticking.
