OverviewWho were the Vedic Arya or Aryans and where did they come from? Drawing on climatology, stratigraphy, archaeology, linguistics, and archaeogenetics, this book presents a bold, multidisciplinary re-examination of India's earliest past. It correlates river dynamics, palaeochannels, and settlement archaeology with Rig Vedic testimony to argue that the Sindhu-Saraswati Civilization was Vedic in character, and that the Rig Veda predates conventional chronologies. Introducing the Palaeolithic Continuity Model, the book traces the roots of Vedic culture to the Upper Palaeolithic, when Ancient North Eurasian populations migrated into the Indian subcontinent during the Last Glacial Maximum and admixed with indigenous hunter-gatherers-forming early South Asian ancestry. Linguistic evidence, including the emergence of retroflex features, is explained through long-term interaction between Indo-European speech and native Indian languages, rather than late intrusive migrations. Challenging prevailing paradigms, this work offers a coherent alternative framework for understanding Vedic origins, population history, and the deep antiquity of the R haplogroup in India-inviting readers to rethink one of the most enduring questions of human history.
