A Pada Index and Reverse Pada Index to Early Pali Canonical Texts will help scholars analyze the early Buddhist canonical texts and produce critical editions of these texts. The indexes will facilitate systematic textual analysis of vocabulary, structure, meter, etc. This index is unique in that the authors used computers to process and analyze a huge volume of data from these early sources.

Moriichi Yamazaki, Litt.D., is a professor at Sendai National College of Technology in Japan and is a specialist in early Buddhism and Jainism. Yumi Ousaka, D.Sc., is also a professor at Sendai National College of Technology and specializes in theoretical physics and computer analysis. The foreword was contributed by K. R. Norman, professor emeritus of Cambridge University and a former president of the Pali Text Society.
