Overview

This fictional novel, book 2 of 5 in the series, continues to follow the life journey of Alejandro Sierra Jr., from his time in the military until he comes home. During this time, the story will show his life while in Boot Camp, his first assigned Navy Base, meeting girls, girls, girls, getting his new boat assignment, meeting a very special girl, but losing her, and walking away from God. Volunteering to go to Vietnam - a war brewing area at the time, death, escorting his Navy friend home for the last time, reconnecting with God, and going home to a somewhat unwelcomed nation (the anti-Vietnam War movement). If you were to ask, ""Who the heck is Alejandro Sierra Jr.?"" Well, he was neither rich nor famous; he was just your average Mexican American, a minority in the public eye, a commoner, a son of El Paso, Texas. Most Mexican Americans in the area are called Tex-Mex (Texas/Mexican). As a working-class minority American, he continually strives to improve himself with what little he has. The question being, is the life of a common person really common? We are all different with unique life journeys to travel. He believes that our lives on this earth are what we, as individuals, interpret and accept as truth, not what others tell us to believe. After we see or do something, we form our own conclusions about what life means, and this story reflects his view of the world, especially of love. All 5 books, reflects Alejandro's growing up and coming of age in a rough barrio (neighborhood), experiencing love sex for the first time, learning to live with the breakup, joining the U.S. Navy, serving in the Vietnam War, coming home, going to college, getting married, retiring, making it through his junior and senior years, and finally passing away. As simple as that sounds, the story primarily focuses on his thoughts about the present, past, and future, as well as the actions and reactions he undertook to survive. If you pause and think about it for a moment, our lives are composed mainly of thoughts, with some actions and reactions. Additionally, it's not just a story about meeting new people and seeing new places as part of the aging process, but also about discovering what life was truly all about, at least from his perspective. Sometimes, he reaches a conclusion or result from an observation he had been noticing for some time. He's not trying to persuade the reader to think like him; maybe he's just simply trying to help the reader better understand him, the main character. Be advised that the protagonist (main character) sometimes repeats himself, as if to clarify what he previously said or thought, probably as a way to justify what he said or did earlier, or maybe because he cannot let go of a troubling event that won't leave his mind. Please note that repetition runs throughout the story. This story mainly focuses on his romantic life with a woman throughout his journey. Sometimes this story is funny, but at other times somewhat distressing. Alejandro is opinionated, and his thoughts and beliefs are evident throughout his life, whether right or wrong. Why not? It's his story. Besides, all his actions, reactions, perceptions, feelings, and thoughts are constantly shaping his character. Finally, he would like to note that he will also share some topics that most other writers will never write or discuss. All is revealed through the eyes of this old minority Vietnam veteran before his passing at the VA hospital. Nevertheless, be advised that the underlying theme of this story is sexual (Adult) in nature, even though other realizations of life are discussed, such as Learning, Joy, Sadness, Pain, Travel, War (Vietnam), Love, Religion (Christianity), Schooling (College), Photography, IT Management, and Death. Still, ""sex"" is the driver, the essence of life, with the understanding that mind rules over matter.
