She has received the Creative Impact in Animation Education Award from Variety magazine (2016), an award for Outstanding Contribution to Animation Studies from Animafest Zagreb (2017), and the ASIFA Prize (2023). She was the founding editor of Animation Journal (1992–2017) and author of several books on animation that have become standard texts.
