Overview

Created in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Corrections, A New Direction (AND) is a flexible, evidence-based, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) curriculum that treats addiction in justice-involved clients and is proven to reduce recidivism. The updated and revised curriculum is divided into seven core topics, with all new companion videos and a Facilitator Guide to better serve clients. This module, along with the Criminal and Addictive Thinking and Socialization modules, typically follows Introduction to Treatment. Justice-involved clients learn that substance use disorder is a chronic disease and recognize the negative effects addiction has on the body and all aspects of life. Clients learn they can choose to change and live freely in recovery.
