Overview

Most high school sports teams have rivalries with other Schools. At Hamilton High, it's a civil war: the football team versus the soccer team. And for her part, Lissa is sick of it. Her quarterback boyfriend, Randy, is always ditching her to go pick a fight or haze a freshman. And on three separate occasions Randy's car has been egged while he and Lissa were inside, making out. She is done competing with a bunch of sweaty boys for her own boyfriend's attention. Lissa decides to end the rivalry once and for all: she and the other players' girlfriends go on a hookup strike. The boys won't get any action from them until the football and soccer teams make peace. The DUFF is eighteen-year-old Kody Keplinger's debut novel. She currently attends Ithaca College, where she's majoring in writing and finishing her second novel, to be published by Poppy in fall 2011. I always felt like the 'ugly girl' in high school -- my best friends are insanely gorgeous -- so when I was introduced to the word during my senior year, I knew I was the Duff. The idea of writing a book with Duff in the title started as a joke, but when I realized that my friends felt like Duffs, too, I knew I had to write this story.
