Leland James is the author of five books of poetry and a book on poetry craft. He was winner of the Aesthetica Magazine Creative Writing Award for Poetry, The Little Red Tree International Poetry Prize, the Portland Pen Poetry Contest, the Writer's Forum short poem contest, and was a winner of an Atlanta Review International Publication Prize. He was runners-up for the poetry prizes of the Sequestrum Editor's Reprint Awards, Fish International in Ireland, the Welsh International, The London Magazine, and the Society of Classical Poets. He has received honors in dozens of other competitions, including the Golden Quill Awards, the Bridport Prize, Morton Marr, The Southwest Review.
