A Match For Miss Marshall: a sweet historical romance

Overview

The obvious choice of husband may not be the right one for Grace. Cambridge, 1896. When gifted mathematician Grace Marshall is plunged into poverty after her father’s sudden death, marriage seems the safest path to security. A respectable suitor is eager to oblige, his reputation would benefit as much as hers. But Grace’s ally, Miss Froment, distrusts his motives and quietly enlists the Moth Agency to intervene. Enter Daniel Hollingdale, a disgraced musician whose prank theft has ruined his prospects. With his future on the line, Daniel must prove himself through serious study, and Grace is the only tutor willing to help. Yet Grace has ambitions of her own. As a newly minted fashion journalist and typewriter devotee, she uncovers corruption in a local workhouse and the plight of three abandoned children, work that could cost her everything. Can Grace and Daniel overcome scandal, suspicion, and the dictates of society to find their own heartwarming conclusion? A Match for Miss Marshall is a gentle and witty Victorian romance in the Moth Agency Romances series, perfect for readers who enjoy engaging characters, rich period detail, and stories of resilience and love. ___________________________________________________________________ Praise for The Moth Agency Romance series: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A delightful novel with charming characters and a cosy plot ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An unexpectedly delightful story… time flew by. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An engaging Victorian tale, heart-warming and witty, with mysteries and conspiracies woven through to a truly satisfying finish. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A gem of a book… engaging threads, relatable characters, and a great sense of period and location. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice, varied vocabulary, and it makes a refreshing change from the endless tales of dukes.

Author Information

Lucy Greenhill loves to write stories whose starting point is a real incident or place and can often be found searching archives and libraries. The inspiration for An Utterly Unsuitable Lady was the notorious case in the 1860s of a rich man who fooled an innocent young woman into a fraudulent marriage before abandoning her without a penny. Could a happy life be salvaged from such wreckage? The MOTH agency romances introduce Lucia and Christabel Venables, an independently-minded pair of sisters living in Victorian Cambridge. Christabel runs a hat shop and Lucia is proprietor of the agency which introduces ladies and gentlemen pursuing romance, and generally looks into Matters Of The Heart. There are plenty more Moth Agency romances to come. Lucy also writes Edwardian mysteries under the pen name of Fran Smith. She lives with her husband, dog and chickens on the edge of the fens near Cambridge, England.
