OverviewJesus prayed. The living, breathing Word prayed. How much greater is His example in His trading His cup for ours (see Matt. 26)? What greater call than those blood-dropped tears on our behalf? Can we not tarry? Can we not live the heart of love? Can we not heed the call of prayer? Indeed, we can because He already has. He sought the will of the Father, and He submitted to that will. In His perfect life of obedience to His final breath on the Cross, He was the embodiment of prayer. Prayer is not just something we do; it is who we are, or moreover, Whose we are, and because of this simple truth, we rest knowing, as He is, so are we -He is the man who can. He is the man who has. He is the very substance of everything we ever hope for (see 1 John 4:14, Heb.11:1). My heart is to pray so effectually, with such fervor, that I watch His heart vividly manifest in those around me (see Jas. 5:16). I continue to inexorably seek His grace with each new season, not that I have attained, nor exhausted, His grace, but rather that I will ever remain yoked in perfect step with the One who calls me to dance at His feet.
