Overview

An enchanting tale of a young brother and sister who take a trip to the country to visit their Grandparents. While in the flower garden, they meet a fairy who whisks them away to a gathering in the stump of an old tree. There the children encounter other fairies, and even Mother Nature herself! They are given the task of telling the human world about the fairy world, and the workings of nature. This story also highlights themes about respect for nature, keeping your word, and throws in a little fairy magic for good measure. It is designed to be read to children, ages 5-10 years old, in the hopes that it will open a discussion about the incredible natural world that is always around us, the importance of family, and what real magic can be.

A lovely, descriptive story using the relationship between fairies and humans and the physical world they both share. Chock full of information that creates positive references about nature. This story connects with children where they are and inspires them to explore and respect their world. --Nancy Miller, Empowerment Educator A magical group of fairies befriend a boy and girl and teach them about the seasons and nature. Cameron and Mellie are children who stumble upon a world of fairies while out in their grandparent's garden one day. A wonderful adventure begins. This story is completely engaging for young children as well as the parents who may read the story to them. --Amica Venturi, Administrator/Teacher Harmony Preschool A Magical Day in Grandpa's Garden is a delightful book for children that uses fairies to explain how our earth works. The fairies interact with the children in a loving way, teaching them about the seasons and the elements. Each fairy represents an element of our earth such as water, wind, fire, earth, and teaches them the importance of each in maintaining our earth's balance. This is done with simple language and an engaging story. --Pam Hauser, Mother and Grandmother Fairyland comes alive in 'A Magical Day in Grandpa's Garden''. Lady Lavender takes the children to a fairy meeting where they are given important jobs and they find out how you know you're a grown up. I wanted to be there with them when they became the size of bumble bees. Come and join Melora and Cameron in this fun fantasy! A must read for anyone who loves fairies! --Debbee Ivy, International teacher

Author Information

"Miss Felicity Meadowsweet loved to tell stories to her children and the children of her friends. After her own children had grown, they asked her to write down the stories to save for her grandchildren. Miss Felicity did just that. ""A Magical Day in Grandpa's Garden"" is Book I in ""The Magical Garden Series"". Destiny Lauritsen is a self-taught artist specializing in children's fantasy illustration. Her art is greatly influenced by traditional fairytales and folklore, but she also finds inspiration working in her herb and vegetable garden, where she practices at being a farmer. Erin Taylor loves to travel by plane, train, automobile and pencil. She has lived in three different hemispheres and strives to reflect her world experiences in her artwork. She has illustrated for children across several genres, including trade books, educational publishing, early readers, learning software and apps, as well as comics and animated games. She has illustrated over 100 titles and loves to work with publishers around the world who share her enthusiasm for providing children with quality products. When Erin's feet are on the ground, she loves time with her family, getting lost in the wild, and visiting the zoo. Drawing is a daily necessity, just like eating, which she also enjoys quite a bit!"
