OverviewWhat motivates someone to produce a poetry magazine when the likelihood of financial or any other form of success is so miniscule? Lucky Star, a magazine of poetry and poetics, shone in the 1980's from April 1982 to April 1989. During that time the Erie Street Press presented the work of 276 writers. This retrospective provides a detailed look into the zeitgeist of poetry in midwestern USA during that decade. Poets appearing in Lucky Star included: Richard Kostelanetz, Carl Watson, Deborah Pintonelli, Cynthia Gallaher, Ray Bradbury, Elkion Tumbale, R.S. Preuss, Mark Perlberg, Effie Mihopolous, Patrick McKinnon, Lyn Lifshin and many more who interpreted their encounter with that decade.
