This book is concerned with dictionary-making and dictionary-research carried out in Romania. The outcome of extensive, hands-on experience in dictionary making and dictionary research, the volume addresses a range of culture-specific topics related to both dictionary-as-process and dictionary-as-product. It reflects the interests and concerns of all the stakeholders on the lexicographic continuum: theorists, practitioners, and dictionary users. The topics covered here encompass a number of macro- and micro-structural aspects relating to paper and online, monolingual and bilingual, general and specialized reference works. Author Information

Marinela Burada is a Professor in Linguistics at Transilvania University of Braşov, Romania. She has coordinated a nationally funded research project targeting the lexicographic, technological and ethical aspects involved in the compilation of online dictionaries, and has conducted extensive investigations in metalexicographic areas such as dictionary pedagogy, categorization, (meta)criticism, and use. She has co-authored, with Raluca Sinu, Research and Practice in Lexicography (2016), a book that integrates the major issues in international lexicography with the Romanian practices in dictionary making.Raluca Sinu is a Senior Lecturer in Linguistics at Transilvania University of Braşov, Romania. She has been involved in a number of lexicographic ventures, including Competitiveness and Effectiveness in Intercultural Specialised Communication through the Optimization of Online Resources, a nationally funded research project. She is currently teaching classes in monolingual and bilingual lexicography at the graduate and undergraduate level, and has published the results of her research in various papers dealing with different aspects of metalexicography.
