A Likely Story

Overview

She suffers an injury that should have been fatal-yet she survives and lives to tell about it! As the old saying goes, Well, that's A Likely Story! I have no good news for you! There's no hope! the neurosurgeon tells 20-year-old Sharon Mehesy's heartbroken parents, as she lies near death in the ICU in a deep coma, with a severe traumatic brain injury. But nothing is hopeless with God, because God is the God of Hope! This is the astounding story of God's miraculous intervention in Sharon's life, His amazing healing of her injuries, her incredible journey back from the brink of death, and how God uses Sharon's experiences to enable her to help others who have undergone similar traumas. This unique book tells Sharon's story from two different viewpoints-that of her mother, Eberly, who recounts the story, based on the journals which she kept during that difficult time, and that of Sharon herself, as she inserts her own perspective, thoughts, and feelings, including her poetic Journey Through Brain Injury , throughout the book.

Sharon was raised in Colorado where she has resided most of her life and is proud to call herself a native. At the age of 20 Sharon was involved in a major car accident in which she sustained a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). She was hospitalized for three months during which time she had to relearn how to do everything again from swallowing to walking. After intense rehabilitation, she returned to college where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation. She has worked in the field for nearly ten years, but now devotes much of her time to writing. She has recently published a book of poetry titled Seasons: A book of poetry reflecting on the Seasons of life. In her free time Sharon enjoys downhill skiing, working on arts & crafts projects, making macrame jewelry, spending time with friends and family and playing with her cat. She can be found most days taking her daily walk where she continues to improve the mechanics of her walking as well as working to improve other aspects of her life. Eberly was born in Chicago, Illinois and was raised in the United States, but she is now proud to call herself a native of Colorado, since she has lived there for the past 36 years. Eberly and her husband Joe have been missionaries to the Native American people for the past 44 years. They have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. She can be found most days either spending time with her grandchildren or curled up somewhere with a good book.
