"This book considers the life of Frederick, Prince of Wales (1707-51), who established himself as Britain's greatest royal collector between Charles I and George IV. He first acquired many of the finest works of art in the present-day Royal Collection, but gained notoriety as ""Poor Fred"", known primarily for having predeceased his father, George II, after his 24 years as heir to the throne. The late Frances Vivian contributed numerous articles and essays to academic publications including the Burlington Magazine and Italian Studies. Roger White lectures regularly to the conservation courses at the Architectural Association in London, and at the Victoria & Albert Museum.
