Travelling Europe in 1973 was vastly different from today. Imagine no smartphones, internet, Facebook, ATM machines, credit cards, Google translate or GPS mapping. Each country was a separate entity; the European Union had not been formed and a single currency had not yet been established. From being locked in solitary confinement in Alcatraz prison to starring on a Hollywood film set. Graeme McIntosh, writer, poet, travel guide was born in Mansfield, Victoria, Australia, in 1947. After a successful career in the automotive and transport industries he spent the final ten years working in the travel industry. Known as Macka he led tours through many parts the Northern Territory and his home state of Victoria. He regularly travels overseas and is now enjoying full retirement. He lives in Melbourne with his partner and travel companion Kim.
