Overview

In 1427 the Wild Fields of Northern Germany were a hotly contested region between two warring families. While the Ukenas were fighting for Frisian freedom, the tom Broks were fighting for expansion of territory. Both families employed knights to do their bidding, but there was also no shortage of questionable honor amongst stolen slaves, servants, and swords. Hassie Schaecker was a peasant farmer in the heart of the Wild Fields when trouble came knocking on her door. Eager to keep her head down, she quickly found herself thrust into the feud between families because a certain knight couldn't help but become fascinated by the lone woman who did not cower in his presence. Konrad Abdena was a sworn knight of the Wild Fields. Bound to no family but careened into service by the tom Brok family because of old debts. While the Ukenas aimed to fight cleaner than they had in the past, tempting witches and dark magic with their blood, the tom Broks turned to piracy, in the Victual Brothers. When autumn hit the Wild Fields, chaos reigned supreme. New crowns from old blood were restored, and neither the Ukenas nor the tom Broks liked where the power struggle was headed. Desperate to keep hold of the Wild Fields, an evil magic was resurrected to attack Hassie and Konrad. Was history doomed to repeat itself or were the Wild Fields protected by its fearless knight?
