A Key to Many Doors: A thrill-packed tale of mystery, romance and rebellion

Overview

Handsome, rich and highly intelligent, Peter Gerard seems destined for a brilliant career in the US diplomatic service, and he is about to marry the beautiful Cynthia Barbee, who will join him on his first foreign assignment. But in one day, all Peter's plans are shattered: first by the news that a plot against the government has been uncovered in his home town, Simonton, Connecticut; then by Cynthia's cruel refusal to join Peter in Simonton for the winter, where the State Department and the FBI now plan to send him on a top secret mission. Angered and deeply hurt, Peter rejects Cynthia and announces that he'd marry the first girl he met rather than crawl back to her... ""Well,"" says a young girl sitting nearby, ""I wondered - in that case - will you marry me?"" For lovely but lonely Nancy Jones, as well as for Peter Gerard, Nancy's daring question will have astonishing consequences; as, much to Nancy's surprise, Peter says he will. What follows is a story of romance and intrigue, as the two newlyweds return to Simonton with a cover for their hasty marriage. But in this peaceful little town - where everyone is both a friend and a suspect - will Peter be able to confide in Nancy and reveal the details of his secret mission? With blackmail, night-time prowlers and bloodshed eclipsing their 'honeymoon', Peter and Nancy's impulsive agreement proves to be much more dangerous and reckless than they imagined... A Key To Many Doors is a thrill-packed tale of mystery, romance and rebellion with an explosive and satisfying climax.
