OverviewCopper, gold and silver have been present in the life of human communities for several thousand years. Being a link between east and west in technological knowledge transfer and trade, the heartland of the Carpathian Basin is a truly exciting region in terms of metallurgy. The author of this small monograph collected, reviewed and published all Hungarian finds of Late Copper Age metallurgy, along with findings of earlier metal analyses and the results of more recent analytical studies. In addition to the finds themselves, attention is given to the archaeometric analysis of the objects, the technology by which these artifacts were made, as well as the mining, geological, minerological and metallographic aspects, and the social context of prehistoric metal working.
