Rabbi Pete Tobias serves the congregation of The Liberal Synagogue, Elstree, UK, having previously worked at Glasgow New Synagogue (Reform) and Birmingham Progressive Synagogue. He also makes regular radio appearances, particularly on BBC Radio 2, where he contributes to Aled Jones's 'Good Morning Sunday' programme. and can frequently be heard offering a 'Pause for Thought' on 'Wake up to Wogan'. A qualified primary school teacher who also spent 17 summers at Liberal Judaism's Kadimah Summer School, Pete Tobias trained for the rabbinate at the Leo Baeck College in London and was ordained in 1990. He is the author of several educational programmes and also writes occasional articles for newspapers, including the Guardian and the Jewish Chronicle. Pete is a lifelong supporter of Watford Football Club. Rabbi Jonathan Keren-Black was also trained at the Leo Baeck College and served at the same congregation in Elstree for 15 years. During that time he was involved in establishing the Clore Shalom School and the groundwork for JCOSS (opened 2010), the first pluralist Jewish primary and secondary schools in Britain. In 2003, Jonathan took up a position in Melbourne Australia as the Rabbi of the Leo Baeck Centre for Progressive Judaism. He has subsequently led the team editing a new prayer book being introduced across Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, the 'World Union Edition of Mishkan T'filah' (2010). The shortage of appropriate material to introduce and explain Progressive Judaism, especially in the Southern Hemisphere context, led to the adaptation of the original book to produce the current volume. Since arriving in Australia, Jonathan has become an ardent fan of Collingwood Football Club (Premiership winners 2010) and has also taken up creative glasswork.
