Overview

The opening chapters of the Book of Genesis, composed and developed within the living faith communities of ancient Israel, proclaim that God was the loving Creator of all things. From the beginning, love was God's purpose, and those early stories are about how God's creatures, especially humanity, would respond to that loving purpose.
