OverviewHolloway noun /ˈhɒl.əʊ.weɪ/ a walking path or road that is much lower than the land on either side of it, because the ground has eroded (= worn away) over time Imagine a river. A gathering of rain, accumulating into a rapid channel, flowing diligently to the collective sea. If all that water were to vanish, left behind would be a Holloway. Not one made by us, but by nature. The river takes the easiest path, carving out a smooth way over centuries of repetition. It will never flow uphill, never deviate except when obstacles get in the way. A Holloway Less Steep is a rejection of the easy path, a conscious effort to take the harder road rather than fall into routine and rut. In this innovative poetry collection, each poem is a stepping stone on the road to freedom. Following the river from mouth to source, we unpick the threads which bind us to a passive path, enriching our lives with wild wonder. To be truly alive in the magic of existence, we must engage ourselves in work. Especially if it is hard. That is how we free ourselves from the current and forge our own inspiring path.
