Overview

The story starts by showing that Emma looks up to her older brother, Andrew. He decides to start playing hockey. So, Emma watches him play for some time and realizes that she wants to be just like him and skate as well. So, Emma's Dad says he can buy her figure skates and tutu dresses. But she says absolutely not. I want to be like Andrew and play hockey. So, he signs her up to learn to skate. She goes on the ice, and the first several times, she cries her eyes out because she is scared. But she continues trying with the encouragement of her dad and brother. Then, she starts to learn and starts getting better. She grew up training and playing hockey alongside her brother, just like she had always wanted to do. As she got older, she found out that Andrew was going to quit playing, and she was very sad, but then she had to make the decision to either quit too or play just because of her love of the sport. So, she kept playing. She got better and won championships. She dreamed of one day playing college-level hockey, and she did. She accomplished all of her lifelong goals and went on to retire after years of amazing experiences and lifelong friendships. Every game, every accomplishment, and every hard part of her long journey, her dad was always there. He pushed her to become the best she could be. At the end of her journey, she could look back and remember how it all started with her dream of being like her older brother and her persistence to get there.
