OverviewA History of National Police Academy traces the journey of the National Police Academy from the year of its establishment in 1948, when it was called Central Police Training College (CPTC), Mount Abu, Rajasthan. Renamed as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy and relocated to Hyderabad, it a premier training academy for imparting training (called Basic Training) to the newly recruited candidates of the Indian Police Service (IPS). Apart from that, it conducts dozens of training courses both for IPS officers and hundreds of other government officers every year. In order to write this book, apart from the basic documents about the Academy, the memoirs of IPS officers, writings of trainees—where they tell their interesting experience at CPTC/NPA—and interview of the IPS officers trained till the year 2014-15, each source cited with their name, batch and other details have been used. These make the book interesting, readable to readers in general and officers/ trainees/ trainers in particular.
