OverviewDifferentiated book- It has a historical context with research of the time-A History of Epidemics in Britain by Charles Creighton. The purpose of realizing this historical context is to approach the understanding of a historical epoch from the elements provided by the text. Hence the importance of placing the document in context. It is necessary to unravel what its author or authors have said, how it has been said, when, why and where, always relating it to its historical moment.CHARLES CREIGHTON, MA, MD, died on July 18, 1927 in the town of Upper Boddington, Northants, and was buried in the cemetery there on July 20. He was 79 years old. With his death, the University of Aberdeen lost one of its most distinguished medical graduates, and Britain the most learned medical scholar and historian of its time.Charles Creighton was born in Peterhead (Scotland) on November 21, 1847, the son of Alexander Creighton, a sawmill and timber merchant from that city. After attending the local school, he was sent to the Gym in Old Aberdeen, then under the auspices of Govy Anderson. From the Gym . went to King's College as ninth treasurer. Here he contacted Minto and Robertson Smith, who were his closest friends. Creighton graduated from MA in 1867 and went to Marischal College to receive medicine. After a time, and as a result, I think, of friction with one of the professors, he left and finished his training in Edinburgh, but returned to graduate MB in Aberdeen in 1871.
