Overview

A HEART TO SERVE tells the story of Pat Hamilton who, after her husband died, left her home in Ramsey, IL, her six grown children, and her work at a nursing home to serve in Haiti where she found peace in her heart. She began her missionary work at a clinic in Marchand Dessalines in the Artibonite Region of Haiti. When that clinic had to close, she joined the Northwest Haiti Christian Mission where she initiated a variety of programs that served people of all ages. After sixteen years at the main campus in St. Louis du Nord, she moved to a satellite mission at La Baie des Moustiques where she was the only white woman for her final four years of service. The authors present her story as a tribute to this selfless woman whose legacy is overshadowed only by her modesty.
