But what about their supporters who made it possible?   Benjamin Broomhall, Hudson Taylor’s brother-in-law, was one of the best-known Victorian laymen of his day. Cabinet ministers and members of Parliament knew him for his uncompromising stand on the questions of slavery and the opium trade, but undoubtedly his greatest work was in the service of the China Inland Mission.   He never travelled to China but had a great influence on God’s work there.  He interviewed and sent out several hundred missionaries.
