Overview

In this book, I provide detailed historical and physical significance of the Sultanate and German period built heritage/treasures found in Dar es Salaam city central area. Also, I suggest a possible tourist route which would provide a unique heritage experience to city's visitors, incorporating the selected old buildings together with contemporary attractions in Dar es Salaam city centre. In addition, I highlight on other cultural tourist attractions found in Dar es Salaam. The information generated by this book is useful to: (a) the Dar es Salaam city tourists, (b) the city heritage conservation stakeholders, (c) the city tour guides, tourism division, city council and other urban tourism stakeholders, (d) professionals, researchers and students of heritage conservation, architecture, urban/cultural tourism and related disciplines, and (e) the public for the understanding of city's identity, history, awareness and appreciation of their place and country's heritage.
