Overview

BENJAMIN LADD is an outlaw biker who meets and falls in love with a born-again Christian woman named Lynne. After joining the church and marrying her, the two settle down on her family's farm and soon afterwards adopts her son Joshua. At the age of nineteen Josh is murdered during an attempted carjacking while on the job in Philadelphia. Unbeknownst to the FBI and local authorities, a DEA operative was also killed just moments beforehand. The killer is none other than a high-ranking member of the street gang Gold Sheik Mob (GSM). The FBI has been investigating the steady increase of their membership and power for several years, but nothing has surfaced that could lead to an indictment. Enter Jelly, a 13-year-old inner city kid who can pass an SAT prep test and knows the truth. Information regarding Joshua's killer, provided by an unknown source through his old club mates, leads Ben Ladd to dig deep into his soul in order to maintain his faith.

J.R. Barnes, originally from Wilmington, Delaware, relocated to New Hampshire at a young age and later had the privilege of attending a boys' boarding school in England.
