The journey A Golden Hour takes the reader on is an uncommon one, well worth reading each poem multiple times and sitting with them, letting each layer Mike has written into them speak its message to you. Even if you have never personally experienced the things Mike writes about, his words touch the human condition - and the Lover, Creator, and Rescuer of that condition - in ways that invite the reader to be seen and known, not by Mike but by the One who has seen and known us from before the beginning. This collection deepened my faith because it gave me a visceral experience of the love of God in a way unknown to me in my previous 19 years walking with Jesus and in a way that isn't preachy or stale, but vulnerable, invitational, surprising, and full of love.
