A Fist Full of Holey Dollars

Overview

A Fist Full of Holey Dollars Sydney Cove 1810+ The Holey Dollar and Dump Story Captain Rudi Greenwood is a solitary man, trapped in a pointless job in a colony where alcohol is currency and rules are easily ignored in the pursuit of wealth. He is on the verge of ending his monotonous life. Bethany Edwards, a grieving widow expecting her late husbands child, slowly begins to change from her grief because of her encounters with the handsome but brooding soldier. As she turns to Rudi for help and support, she must face what she truly feels. Will her faith reach a man who believes in nothing, or will his lack of belief keep them apart? Drawn to Bethany, Rudi is forced to question his cynicism and imagine a different future. When Governor Lachlan Macquarie asks for his help improving the colony’s roads, an offhand remark from Rudi sparks an idea that could reshape the settlement: a new currency to challenge the power of alcohol. Will Rudi accept the governor’s challenge—and what bold choice will make him despised by both the exclusives and the free settlers?

Author Information

Sara Powter resides on the Central Coast of New South Wales. Throughout her childhood, she travelled across Australia, enjoyed fishing, and collected shells, nurturing her love for the country. She met and married Stephen, a minister in the Newcastle Anglican Diocese in NSW, who retired in November 2020. When COVID-19 struck, Sara found the time to write some of the stories she had long wanted to create. Within four months, she finished three stories. Now, five years later, she is nearing the completion of her 30th book. Her novels are inspired by her passion for Colonial Australia, her convict ancestors, and the remarkable history of this incredible country.
